Cypripedium orchids are characterized by extraordinarily beautiful and unique flowers, which often resemble small shoes or boots, hence their common name, Venus's slipper.

In fact, Cypripedium flowers are known for their unusual structure that looks like a shoe, with a swollen, pouch-shaped labellum that resembles the upper part of a shoe, and sepals and petals that extend backward, mimicking the heel and toe of the shoe.
