Pistacia is an evergreen shrub native to Mediterranean regions, where it grows naturally in arid and coastal habitats. It has a compact appearance with dark green, glossy, leathery leaves. The leaves are composed of lanceolate or elliptical leaflets and may take on a reddish hue during the cold season. It produces small greenish-yellow flowers clustered in panicle inflorescences.
